I am looking to sell my Specialized Ruby Pro women specific road bike. It is a 2006 model, which was imported specially for me from the States, as we did not have them in the UK. It has full Dura Ace kit, including the wheels, carbon bars and seatpost, and most importantly features the 9R carbon frame, which is a better spec than subsequent Pro models. It is a 54cm, which is ideal for a woman of 5'5" to 5'8". If you are interested, please contact me in the shop on 01483 267676.

6.05PM Wednesday 14th November
As planned, there will be a Beyond Mountain Bikes ride on Sunday 18th November. It will start at the Chantries carpark on Pilgrims Way, OS grid reference TQ 00285 48400, on the A281 just going south out of Guildford. We will aim to ride at 10am sharp. Craig is helping to plan the route for me to give us all a bit of a change, and it promises to be a fairly long one, about 25 to 30 miles, taking in Newlands Corner, Leith Hill, Holmbury, Peaslake and Winterfold before returning via Blackheath. Therefore, my advice is to either be prepared to ride for about 3 to 4 hours, or peel off part way and return via the road. The pace will be moderate, but we will need to make sure we don't get too far behind time!

I have been warned that there is a Trailbreak ride on Saturday from Bramley, which will cover parts of the planned route, so you won't need to do both!

As always, it is helpful to know if you are going to be able to come, so please let me know.

The ladies ride on Sunday 11th November will start from the Devil's Punchbowl carpark on the A3 at Hindhead at 10a.m. There is a parking charge of £2 so don't forget to bring some change! I am expecting to return to the carpark by about 12.30, where there is a cafe to get drinks and snacks if anyone is interested. Look forward to seeing you there.

7.37AM Wednesday 17th October
As I have been on nights I have missed out on any riding this weekend but I know Paul had a ride planned for Sat and I spotted Roy and Peter out so hopefully people made good use of the nice weather and got out.

This weekend coming there are a number of different events happening , Saturday it is the trip to Calshot Velodrome which everyone always enjoys, this is usually split into two ability groups so even if you have not done it before get in touch with Dick dick_reeve@yahoo.co.uk who will give you more details and have you riding around he track like Chris Hoy in no time, the advantage is also if it rains being indoors you stay nice and dry.

Sunday the 21st October the club are organising a road hill climb a very low key affair, no entry form , the club pays the entry fee and suitable for all abilities male and female with a gentle road ride before and after, just send Paul W an e-mail if you want more details or if your doing it. We have won this event twice in the last 3 years so lets make it 3 this year so make sure you enter.

For the pure MTB riders there is a XC race at Lotts Wood near to Hyde Heath being organised by he Summit MTB Club and it would be good to see big club turnout for this local event also no doubt Paul Buckland will be organising a social ride so give him a call for more details.

Looking further ahead some dates for your diary next year

13/4 Hell of the North
21-22/6 Mountain Mayhem
26-27/7 12/24hr

For those that fancy a real challenge anyone up for the Starthpuffer 24 hr a 24hr event in the middle of January check out the event at http://www.strathpuffer.co.uk/

Provisional date for the Black Park MTB races is the 23rd March and the Bucks Classic is likely to be either May 11 or 18th, if anyone knows any clashes with these dates can they let me know

I am not sure if we will be running a round of the Southern Series next year ,only one person responded to the last e-mail about requests to run it so watch this space on that one.

Cheers Chris D

One of our social crew have suggested a 46 mile ride starting at the Punchbowl in Hindhead on Sunday 22nd July. The route will go via Thursley and Hankley commons up as far as Puttenham and the North Downs Way, and extend out to Ludshott Common. If you are interested, this promises to be a good steady, social paced ride, and there will be maps if needed if you want to go home early (or indeed go further). Let me know if you are interested. Further details will be sent out nearer the time.

Belatedly, there is a ride tomorrow 27th May, starting at the Devils Punchbowl carpark on the A3 at Hindhead, at 9am. Pace will be a little stiffer than usual, it will be raining, and we will be doing about 20 miles, taking about 2-2.5 hours!!

1.06PM Tuesday 24th April
Our ride on sunday 29th will start at the carpark at Burton Mill, a little North of Duncton on the South Downs. We will kick off at 9am for about 4 hours of riding through woodlands and downland. The route is 22 miles and fairly demanding, although we have tried to avoid the worst hills as the group will be mixed. Please contact Jackie for details in the shop.

9.21AM Friday 13th April
This Sunday I am planning a ride out for the girls. I have a few takers already, and the weather is looking set to be sunny again, so come out whilst the tracks are dry and fast, and the roots aren't slippy. I will be meeting in the usual carpark off Walking Bottom in Peaslake at 10am. Dunc has found a couple of new tracks so we're off to try them.

As it's such short notice, and I know the girls need to plan a bit more ahead, I'm allowing partners to come along as well this time if they want - but don't bring more than one man or they will swamp the ride!

Also, I am going to do a mixed ride on Sunday 29th April, planning about 20 miles and considering a different location for a change - maybe the Punchbowl at Hindhead as a starting point? Let me know if anyone is interested. I'm also exploring the South Downs in the odd moment I get out on my bike on my own, and have come up with a couple of good routes down there. Why don't you take a vote for me so I can see what people would like best:

Peaslake as usual
South Downs
Devils Punchbowl

I look forward to seeing a few of you this sunday.

8.53AM Thursday 15th March
The women's ride this sunday will start from the usual carpark in Peaslake off Walking Bottom. For anyone who doesn't know it, starting from the village shop/bus stop in the village, go up the road dead opposite which has the Hurtwood Inn on the right and the church path on the left. The carpark is a little way up that road on the left hand side. We hope to start at 10am and be back by 12ish.

4.12PM Thursday 1st March
Hi all
Just a reminder that the ride this sunday 4th March will be going from the same carpark as usual off Walking Bottom in Peaslake at 10am, for some ripping singletrack and a few laughs. Carole is down again from her job/new home in Derbyshire and will be joining us, so you girls might like to come out again too.

Do subscribe to the list if you want to be notified of any rides by email. Unsubscribing is easy, so you don't have to put up with any annoying junk mail from me (as if I've got time anyway)!

11.04AM Wednesday 31st January
Next ride is on 4th February, and I am looking forward to some dry trails! I'm taking off the narrow mud tyres and putting on some stickier ones in anticipation of bright sunshine and fast tracks. We are meeting in the usual place, carpark in Peaslake off Walking Bottom, just up the road from the church and the Hurtwood Inn, at 10am. Pace should be moderate, so don't worry if you've been out the night before, we will be gentle!! See you there.

11.16AM Friday 19th January
The next ride will be on 4th Feb, and we will be starting again from the Peaslake carpark at 10am. The last ride (see pics) was a good one, views good, rare break in the weather, so we didn't get wet!! Look forward to seeing you all out on 4th.

6.01PM Sunday 7th January
Ride dates for the next three months will be 14th January, 4th February and 4th March. These will all have a 10am start time, but may be in different locations depending on the mud and weather conditions.

The first ride, next Sunday, will be meeting at Peaslake in the carpark off Walking Bottom as usual, at 10am. This is a mixed ability ride, so do feel free to show up in couples, it will be great to see you all after the Christmas and New Year holiday. Any questions, please email me.
